Have you thought about helping Cascadia choose its projects and priorities?
There are two opportunities for appointment to the Board of Supervisors this season. People with a variety of skills and interests help to make up an effective Board, especially those with knowledge or experience in agriculture or natural resource management.
To be appointed by the local Board of Supervisors – application due February 19:
First, there is a vacancy in an Elected position for the unexpired portion of a three-year term. Any registered voter living in Chelan County is eligible to serve. Once appointed, this member would need to run for election in 2021 in order to continue in the position. Depending on the makeup of the Board at that time, the candidate may need to be a landowner or operator of a farm in order to run (at least three of the five members must meet this requirement). Applicants need to submit a form PF-A, available here, and express their interest by talking to a current Board member or by submitting a letter of interest to the District office. The application period is open until noon on February 19, 2019. The individual appointed by the local Board of Supervisors would begin serving immediately.
To be appointed by the Conservation Commission – application due March 31:
The second opportunity is an Appointed Supervisor position to be filled by the Conservation Commission at their May meeting. The term is three years, beginning in June 2019. Applications are available online here http://www.formstack.com/forms/?1918463-JfwJs6JKCL and are due by March 31, 2019. Depending on the makeup of the Board at that time, the candidate may need to be a landowner or operator of a farm in order to be eligible (at least three of the five members must meet this requirement).
