2nd Entiat River Appreciation a Success!
Cascadia Conservation District would like to give a big thank you to all who helped make the 2nd Annual Entiat River Appreciation a huge success!
Over 100 volunteers from the Entiat area and elsewhere assisted in filling two 20 yard roll-off garbage bins with metal and trash that was removed from the banks of the Entiat River. Clean up efforts took place at Entiaqua Park, Mad River, Bortz Road and the Entiat National Fish Hatchery. Volunteers at the Entiat National Fish Hatchery also planted 100 native trees and shrubs. The first 50 participants planted a "legacy tree," a single Ponderosa Pine. These "legacy trees" will be mapped by GPS and receive a name plaque so that participants can watch them grow and change with time.
After the clean-up and planting volunteers enjoyed an appreciation celebration at Entiaqua Park. At the party volunteers enjoyed a delicious barbeque, fantastic music by the Tyee Ridge Runners (a.k.a. The Shank Brothers), fun-filled educational games and activities, an appearance by Smokey Bear, and received event t-shirts and totes.
