CONSERVATION MONTHLY
April 2026

Project Spotlight

Our restoration crew leads, Chace and Miranda, have been busy above 25 Mile Creek in Chelan installing fencing to keep the deer from browsing plantings from fall 2025. So far they have installed 46 ten-foot T-posts thanks to the landowner's generosity!

When the rest of the crew starts this week they will be back up to install around 450 feet of fencing! More photos and updates to come.

Conservation Fair a Success!

Cascadia and local partners welcomed over 200 community members at our 2nd annual Conservation Fair!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Conservation Fair and helped make it such a meaningful community event. We loved seeing so many neighbors take part in the hands-on activities and conversations throughout the day. We look forward to following up on many of those conversations and working together in the future!

A big thank you to our partners! Wenatchee Valley Fire Department, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Eastside Rebuild, Sustainable NCW, CAFE, Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, and Trout Unlimited: Thank you for showing up to share resources, knowledge, and support with our community.

We are so grateful for our partners and local businesses who generously donated items for our raffle. Thanks to Tiny Farm LLC, Wild Birds Unlimited, Chelan Valley Botanicals, Chelan Rams Landscaping, Derby Canyon, Eastside Rebuild, CAFE, Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, Laura Rivera and Tom Hampton, and Michele McKay, we were able to raffle off 11 items!

We're also especially grateful to the local landowners who made the trip and shared their experiences working with Cascadia and for the incredible example they set as responsible stewards of their land. Jim Chedister, Seth Christian, and Pete Teigen, it has been a pleasure working with you.

We at Cascadia look forward to working with more Chelan County residents and continuing to support our community's conservation efforts.

Board of Supervisors Election Results

The unofficial results are in, and Junell Wentz has been
re-elected to the Board

After their review, the Washington State Conservation Commission will certify the results at their May 2026 regular meeting.

Thank you to all the candidates who participated and to everyone who voted!

Free Soil Testing

It’s that time of year again! In preparation for this year’s growing season, you may want to think about what lies underneath your feet. Soil health is the foundation for a good harvest, and soil testing is the only way to know what’s needed. If you’d like a FREE* soil test, contact Marcy at [email protected] or by calling 509-436-1601 ext #3
