For our 6th annual Earth Day Essay Contest we had 37 essays submitted by students from Chelan and Douglas counties representing Sterling Intermediate, Entiat Middle School, and Homelink Cascade School District. Our three judges came from the Cascadia Conservation District, Team Naturaleza, and the Cascade Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group. The three winners received hand painted nature journals from Heather W. Murphy and student memberships to the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. The students and their families were invited to attend a short ceremony at the Leavenworth Earth Day Fair, where they received their prizes.
